If I go for a jog, I don't carry proof of citizenship. I'm a natural born American citizen, who pays taxes, employs others, pays for health insurance, and happens to be of Mexican descent. Should the Arizona police have the right to detain/arrest me for my appearance?
512 it's more than just that, it's a law that promotes racial profiling...if you were a minority for one day your ignorant beliefs may change just a little
i support racial profile of illegals because the vast majority are from mexico and they fill our schools, don't pay taxes, cause over crowding in emergency rooms and don't pay the medical bills, don't learn english. i could go all day
^ what he said is fair enough, if you get profiled and you have your citizenship you can go on with your business. don't see how that's a problem if you're legal you have nothing to hide anyway
It's only a problem if you respect the Constitution. So long as you're willing to ignore the 14th Amendment the law is just wonderful! Well... Unless you consider the Preemption Doctrine, haha!
It's a requirement to carry your green card anyway, what's wrong with asking for it? But fine, pull over everyone and ask if they're citizens so it doesn't look like we're picking on people.
First of all, pulling everyone over for no reason is a ridiculous notion. It's such a preposterous waste of resources that it's not even plausible.\n\nFurthermore, what happens if the person stopped doesn't have ID with them? Should they just be let go? Maybe given a citation? So long as you think it'd be fair to arrest an old white lady and hold her till she verifies her citizenship, then I guess you can do the same to someone simply for being tan.
Lol I don't treat any minority less than anyone else, with the exception of minorities that point out they r a minority. Illegal aleins from Mexico are just quickers for their own country, and law breakers.
Anyone ever heard of the "preemption doctrine"? That, along with the fact that the law clearly violates the Equal Protection and Due Process clauses of the 14th Amendment, is why this law will be struck down in short order.
By the way, we are all so lucky to live in a country where nearly everyone in the world speaks our language, for the purpose of fulfilling our needs, you're welcome America. Also I think I'm one of the few ACTUAL bilingual Americans there are
11ten no they shouldn't. I hate how I am also of Mexican descent but I look white, and when I speak Spanish people actually freak out, which I think is weird to freak out about. Either way, it's not fair and it's biased.
I live in arizona and to be honest I don't care about mexicans at all. Not being rude but the ones that have jobs such as construction work really hard. We have these 5 guys that do our yard once every 2 weeks and they work hard and there nice guys and we pay them a shit load. They distribute the money evenly. Of course there are bad ones, but there's bad of every race!
Wow it's not about them upholding the illegal immigration law. It's about them not allowing people with accents to teach english when they spent the entire 90s hiring teachers with a first language other than english.
Some of these tflns really piss me off only cause they're so stupid. What happned to the funny ones! But then again. I suppose I'm not one to talk cause my life is pretty bland. So im not contributing Lol!
You all are so misinformed. The police can only ask for a Mexicans identification if they've broken these first. I.E speeding in a car, shoplifting etc. This is noooo different than with any other race, actually. Now, the concern is that policemen will take advantage of the law and start racial profiling however if this were to happen, what evidence would the officer have that would be upheld in court? "oh he was jogging and looked sketchy" no. That simply would not fly hence there should be
