Clearly your American and not Irish. It is Paddy. Just like every man in Ireland called Patrick gets called Paddy. Patty would suggest Patricia. Don't celebrate a holiday you don't know anything about.
ok, thank you guys who actually know it's paddy. To explain, the nickname comes from the gaelic (irish language) version of patrick, padraig. I hope all of you who spell it patty had a fun day being irish
Actually nothingbuttime, "patty" is a nickname for Patricia. "paddy" is a nickname for Patrick. So it's Paddy's day. Anyone that writes Pattys day on a poster is ignorant.
