If you're going to do drugs, at least have the decency not to endanger others in the process. Stoners, please don't try to justify it by pointing the finger at drunk driving when you should be doing neither.
Fuck every inconsiderate shithead who clicked thumbs-down on this comment. Pot is great; endangering others - even a little bit - is not great. It does not matter the slightest bit how well you think you drive high - your own personal judgment is not the basis of the principle in the first place.
http://www.ccguide.org/driving.php\n\nThis references a number of studies which state that Marijuana doesn't affect driving adversely, or very slightly affects it positively or negatively. The actual links don't lead to the studies, but if you search the article names in Google they are the first link in most cases. Assuming that driving while high is proven to be more dangerous then driving sober is bullshit.
Again, there seems to be a lot of "well it's worse to drive drunk than to drive high, so driving high is justified." Uh, what? Your reaction time can still be impaired, and there could be many situations in which you need to react quickly to avoid a crash. It's not really even fair to compare alcohol and weed because at least in the US, alcohol is legal while weed isn't.
An unrelated issue, but: it's stupid that marijuana is illegal at all. It's a plant that people have been smoking ever since God put it on his green earth. Marijuana being illegal is liking making tomatoes illegal. It was only ever made illegal in the first place in this country becaue the timber industry hired a bunch of lobbyists to protect their interests against hemp. Legalizing it would save $8-9 billion in unnecessary incarcerations and generate another $8-9 billion in taxes. Ok I'
Religion... not best way to make an argument. "God" put a ton of deadly plants here. Should we smoke and/or eat them too JUST because they're growing here naturally? Probably not. And eating tomatoes doesn't get you high. Industrial hemp is different than the marijuana used as a drug. It is unfortunate that we treat them the same because the hemp plant has a ton of uses.
And what I was saying about the legality - people are quick to point out that there are more alcohol-related crashes than weed-related ones. Well of course... alcohol is legal and there are many places that sell it. So people drive home drunk from said places. Were weed legal, places like bars for weed would pop up and, oh, more people would drive home high.
Taipan, perhaps God wasn't the best name to drop, I was merely pointing out it grows naturally. And maybe it isn't the best idea to smoke potentially harmful plants, but if they are natural it's each person's right to choose to consume them. Marijuana has existed much longer than the laws banning it's usage, and it will last much longer.
